Itinerary
Tantalise your safari taste buds – explore the hills and valleys of Tarangire and the endless plains of the Serengeti
Day 1
Fly to Kilimanjaro
On arrival transfer to nearby Arusha for an overnight stay at Legendary Lodge, all inclusive.
Days 2 - 4
Slow Safari
Fly to Tarangire National Park, a park known for both its natural beauty and its large herds of elephants. We recommend a stay at Chem Chem, a delightful lodge in a private conservancy between Tarangire and Lake Manyara where you can go out on game drives in the conservancy itself, head into the National Park or simply do what we most enjoy after a long haul flight – the ‘slow safari’. Nothing quite beats sitting on the terrace and watching the game as it passes by. For a true back to nature experience, we highly recommend extending your stay for a couple of nights at sister camp, Little Chem Chem for the thrill of sleeping under canvas in big game territory.
Chem Chem or Little Chem Chem, 3 nights fully inclusive with game drives
Days 5 - 7
Southern reaches of the Serengeti
Fly on to the remote and pristine southern Serengeti. Wildebeest calving season is January to March, so a great time to visit this area when the massive herds are within reach. Visit at other times of the year and you’ll be treated to a constant parade of wildlife as it passes by the lodge’s waterhole (as featured in the BBC’s excellent ‘Waterhole: Africa’s Animal Oasis’ series).
Mwiba Lodge, 3 nights fully inclusive with game drives
Days 8 - 10
Safari in the Serengeti
Head into the Serengeti for a stay at a migration camp. These camps are seasonal and their locations are chosen to be in the best place for wildlife sightings. The northern Serengeti provides a real contrast to the south as the herds follow the rains, heading north over our summer months. Whatever time of year, the action on the Serengeti’s endless plains never disappoints.
Legendary Migration Camp, 3 nights fully inclusive with game drives
Accommodation
There are two mobile Migration Camps that move to follow the migration. Each camp is divided into 2 smaller camps, each with its own lounge/dining area, ensuring an intimate, exclusive and authentic experience for all. The classically furnished tents all offer en suite comfort. Game drives are conducted on private vehicles.
