Swakopmund is a quirky little place, sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean and the desert. It’s a colonial-style town with seaside promenades, palm trees and a distinctly German influence that visitors often use as a base for exploring further north.
There’s plenty to do around the town, too. Swakopmund offers excellent opportunities for swimming and beach lounging (it’s also known as the adventure sports capital of Namibia). Make sure you find the time for a marine safari – and be sure to sample the meats and a pastry or two in the German market.
