Linyanti and Savuti lie between Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta. When it comes to landscapes, they’re a bit like chalk and cheese. And we love the way they offer the two extremes of African terrain.
Linyanti is all open floodplains and green forests. The river is an excellent place to see elephants during winter (and sitatunga antelope, hippo and crocodile the rest of the year round). The Savuti region, on the other hand, is usually dry savannahs as far as the eye can see. But thanks to the phenomena of the channel, which can go 20 years without flowing and then suddenly one day begin to gush, the landscape can transform from arid plains to marshland almost overnight.
