From the day and hour it opened, on time, on 1st March 2017, The Silo has surpassed all our expectations – no mean feat as our expectations for this one were sky high.
It's the latest offering from the Liz Biden stable, the most famous independent hotelier in South Africa. Built in what was Cape Town's historic grain silo, there's floor to ceiling pillowed windows in all the suites. A glass swimming pool on the roof. Direct access to The Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. And what we think are the best panoramic views to be found anywhere.
Views aside, there’s much to grab your attention indoors. Decadent bedrooms with more than a splash of vibrant colour. Incredible and original African art from Liz’s own collection. Even the food presentations are works of art – not to mention the cocktails in the bar (where, incidentally, an extensive collection of proudly South African gins awaits).
Each window weighs a ton and costs what a BMW 5 series costs. There are 81 of them. Do the maths!
