The Sapi Private Reserve, adjacent to Mana Pools National Park (collectively they are a UNESCO World Heritage Site) used to be a game hunting area. Not any more. Since Great Plains took it over, they’ve stopped the hunting and set about restoring wildlife numbers and rehabilitating the land.
They’ve also created two new camps: Sapi Explorers Camp and Sapi Springs Camp.
Sapi Springs Camp is the smaller, more intimate of the two. Here it’s all about the romance of sleeping beneath the stars. There are just three rooms, so it feels incredibly exclusive. The beds are under mosquito nets on raised platforms overlooking the seasonal Sapi riverbed, beneath a canopy of trees.
This is the place for you if you’re tempted by the idea of a remote wilderness and the chance to explore on foot.
