We think Sanctuary Olonana works whatever time of year you visit. That’s because it’s in a private concession that borders Kenya’s most famous game reserve, the Masai Mara. During migration months (from July to October) it’s a great place for wildebeest spotting. The rest of the year, it’s home to a healthy population of resident game.
The lodge is made up of 14 spectacular suites, all set along the raised river bank with big, folding glass doors that open onto decks with large daybeds - perfect for lounging and listening to the hippos. Family suites have a second room with twin beds, ideal for the children. Bathrooms are enormous, with free standing baths and some of the biggest showers we've seen (the lodge also operates an environmentally-friendly water recycling project, a big 'tick' in our book). There's a pool for cooling down and a relaxing spa.
