Lupita Island may be off the beaten track and bit of an adventure to get to, but it’s worth it. The 130-acre private island has just 13 cottages, each individually styled and deliciously private. Countless species of fish inhabit Lake Tanganyika’s crystal clear waters so you can expect great fishing and snorkelling – as well as water-skiing, kayaking or even a sunset cruise around the island. Feast on fish fresh from the lake at a beach BBQ, dine by candlelight in the open-air dining room, or have a butler serve you in the privacy of your cottage.
There’s a gym and games room, and of course a spa to ease away any post-safari aches and pains.
