Kaya Mawa means ‘maybe tomorrow’. And in our opinion, the name suits this place down to the ground. There are no schedules, you’re left to take it at your own pace (whether that means lounging on a massive cushion, playing watersports or taking lessons in the PADI dive centre). If you’re a little bit of a bohemian at heart you’ll be very happy here.
It sits on Likoma Island in middle of Lake Malawi and works well in combination with a safari in neighbouring Zambia or as a post-safari beach addition without having to go all the way to an Indian Ocean island.
The rooms and chalets are all individual in both look and location. Some are set into the rocks, some up the hill, some are on the beach, and the views can be of either the beach or the lake. There’s something for everyone here: there are beautifully romantic villas for honeymooners and houses that are perfect for families.
